Recurring clients are the easiest revenue a service business has, until a renewal slips past unnoticed. Nobody decided to leave. The date just came and went, the champion changed jobs, or an open complaint sat in someone's inbox. As the Renewal Radar skill puts it, the renewal you start 90 days out is a process, and the one you notice 2 weeks out is a discount.
This kit uses free, open-source skills and official connectors to keep the renewal calendar in front of you. Your assistant lists what's coming up, checks it against billing, keeps the CRM records straight, and digs into the ones at risk while there's still time to act. You decide every change and every message.
What you need: Claude with the sales plugin from Anthropic's Knowledge Work Plugins (Apache-2.0) installed, for steps 1 and 4. Steps 2 and 3 use official hosted connectors: Stripe MCP from Stripe (a Stripe account; the stripe/ai toolkit repo is MIT) and Attio MCP from Attio (an Attio workspace). Both also work in ChatGPT and Cursor. No CRM yet? Steps 1 and 4 also work from an uploaded export of your client contracts or renewals.
The steps, estimated times, and directory pages are in the kit card above. Every time here is an estimate.
Before you start: set up once (estimated 15 minutes)
- Install the sales plugin and connect your CRM and your inbox. Connect your team chat too if escalations get raised there.
- Tell it where renewals live. Renewal Radar needs to know whether your renewals are opportunity records, contract records, or a renewal-date field. It asks once if it doesn't know. Add the answer to your Claude Project instructions so you only answer it once.
- Connect Stripe and Attio with their own sign-in (OAuth). Each connector acts as you, with your permissions. If you want writes to ask first, set that in the connector's own settings.
Step 1: See every renewal coming up (estimated 10 minutes)
Renewal Radar pulls open renewals or contracts ending in the window from your CRM: amount, renewal date, stage, next step, and last activity. The default window is the next 120 days.
Ask:
What renewals are coming up, and which ones are at risk?
It scores each renewal on signals like no activity on the account in 30 or more days, a champion or signer who changed or left, or an open escalation. An active expansion conversation lowers the risk. Each renewal gets a verdict, on track, needs attention, or at risk, with the evidence and a link to the record.
You also get uplift candidates, renewals with an expansion signal and a proposed next move, and a hygiene list: renewals with no record yet, missing amounts, or close dates after the contract ends. For one named account, ask it to prep the renewal and it writes a brief with the history, current sentiment, a pricing and uplift recommendation, and a paperwork timeline worked back from the end date.
Step 2: Check what billing says (estimated 5 minutes)
The CRM says what should renew. Billing says what's actually being paid. Stripe MCP is Stripe's official connector, in public preview. It looks up customers, payments, and subscriptions in your Stripe account from chat.
Ask, for each renewal marked needs attention or at risk:
Look up this client in Stripe. Is their subscription still active, and have their recent payments gone through?
A client whose payments stopped is a different conversation from one who simply hasn't been contacted. Stripe MCP can also create payment links and invoices, so read anything it proposes before you approve it.
Step 3: Keep the CRM honest (estimated 5 minutes)
Attio MCP is Attio's official connector. It finds contacts and deals, logs call notes, and creates follow-up tasks, as you and with your permissions.
Ask:
For each at-risk renewal, log a note with the risk and create a follow-up task for this week.
Read every change before you approve it. Attio MCP can create, update, and merge records across your whole Attio workspace, and delete tasks and your own comments. Each write is confirmed first, so check the record and the values each time. If your CRM isn't Attio, Renewal Radar lists the same fixes for you to make by hand.
Step 4: Rescue the risky ones (estimated 10 minutes)
Deal Review takes one at-risk renewal and looks at it in depth: the record, the contacts, your recent emails, call transcripts, and internal chat.
Ask:
Review the renewal for this client. What's the risk, and what should I do this week?
It starts from the CRM's probability and adjusts it with the signals it finds, like a champion who has gone quiet for 14 or more days, a single contact on the account, or an open dispute or held invoice, and it shows the math. It flags a notice or renewal deadline inside 45 days even when the close date is later. You get the risks with evidence, what's missing, and the next actions, highest leverage first. Deal Review itself only reads. The CRM updates it suggests are yours to accept.
Common pitfalls
- Noticing too late. Run the radar weekly with the full 120-day window, not the week before a renewal.
- Trusting the CRM alone. A renewal can look on track while the client's payments have stopped. Check billing for anything at risk.
- Approving writes without reading them. Attio MCP can change records across the whole workspace. Read each change first.
- Acting on what an email says to do. The skills treat emails, chat, and transcripts as evidence, not instructions. If a message asks for an action, it comes to you first.
Your renewal checklist
- Install the sales plugin and connect your CRM and inbox, or upload a renewals export
- Tell Renewal Radar where your renewals live, and save it in your project instructions
- Connect Stripe and Attio, and set their write permissions
- Each week, run the radar and check every at-risk renewal against billing
- Log a note and a follow-up task for each one, reading every change first
- Run a deal review on the riskiest renewal and do its top action this week
